Airbag, Cacaofabriek Helmond 15-10-2022
I've been playing along to Pink Floyd songs on guitar for years. One day, I stumbled upon the website Gilmourish.com, which offers tips on how to tune your guitar effects and other settings to get really close to their sound. This blog post was written by guitarist Bjorn Riis. And that's how I eventually discovered his band Airbag and his solo albums through that website.
About 5 years ago I attended performances by both Airbag and Bjorn solo.
Now, after a few years without a concert tour, they came to the Netherlands for their first performances after the coronavirus crisis. So I attended their performance at the Cacaofabriek in Helmond.
Just like the night before in Zoetermeer, they had a sold-out crowd. Fans from various countries had come to enjoy the show.
In terms of sound, they are of course very reminiscent of Pink Floyd, but a bit more modern and heavier, with of course a lot of guitar violence.
The guys themselves are from Oslo, where I was earlier this year during my tour of Norway . Funnily enough, it turns out we were actually close to the studio where they occasionally record some of their work on that trip.
The band also clearly enjoyed finally being on stage together again.
And afterward, they even came by for a friendly chat, signed autographs, and took pictures with the fans. I hope my photo report can capture the atmosphere a little. I highly recommend their music and shows!
