Blancpain GT Zolder 2017
During the Pentecost weekend of 2017, the Blancpain GT Series visited the Zolder circuit. It had been a few years since I'd last visited the Zolder circuit, so it was high time to take another look. It was a great event. There was plenty of spectacle to see and capture on the track. It was noticeable that quite a few cars, especially the Strakka Racing McLaren 650s, regularly launched in the chicane behind the pits when they took the inside curbs too hard. This resulted in flying cars. I could just stand there and wait for them, which naturally resulted in some great photos! With a pit walk, an impromptu meeting with Tom Coronel and other familiar faces, and plenty of great action in the TCR Benelux and Belcar support races, it was a fantastic weekend! Tom Coronel took a double victory in the TCR races and the Blancpain races were won by Audi (Saturday Robin Frijns & Stuart Leonard, Sunday Markus Winkelhock & Will Stevens).
