The Pineapple Thief & Trope 05-03-2022
Finally, another concert! It had been three years since I last saw and photographed The Pineapple Thief. But finally, things are returning to somewhat normal. So they immediately embarked on a new European tour. De Boerderij in Zoetermeer was their venue again, this time for two nights in a row. I attended the first sold-out show on March 5th.
As the support act, Trope delivered a beautiful acoustic set. Normally, they rock with electric guitars, of course. But with just singer Diana Studenberg and guitarist Moonhead, they still managed to deliver a powerful set. It was also great to catch up with them afterward. It turned out they'd come all the way from Canada and Australia, quite a trip!
The Pineapple Thief were really looking forward to it. Bruce asked the audience in Dutch if it was everyone's first concert in a long time. A resounding yes, of course. They had Beren Matthews as their touring guitarist, whose playing also fit the band perfectly. And the rest of the band was back to their usual form, but with new songs from the album Versions of the Truth. I also used my wide-angle lens for photography, which resulted in some remarkable shots with the entire band, sometimes including the audience clapping along, as if you were there.
