Valencia 2025

Valencia 2025

A visit to the MotoGP season finale was canceled in 2024 due to flooding in Valencia. The weekend was then postponed for a year, and the flights were rebooked to Prague. But now, a year later, it was finally time to travel to Valencia. A quick escape from the autumnal cold of the Netherlands for a weekend of late summer fun in Spain.

The city is a beautiful balance between the old historic center and the modern architecture of the City of Science and Arts.

It was lovely to be there, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius and the warmest we saw was 26 degrees Celsius in the sun. I deliberately tried to capture this sunny feeling and the golden light in the various atmospheric and street photos I took. I even managed an afternoon at the beach. A wonderful autumn outing with excellent food in the evenings. Those are the best city breaks.

We attended the MotoGP at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, about half an hour outside Valencia. Since I was just a visitor, my photo opportunities were limited to what I could capture from the stands. The circuit itself is designed like a stadium, completely surrounded by grandstands. From the stands, you can see most of the track, which is sometimes different for a visitor at other circuits.

Alex Márquez won the sprint race there and celebrated right in front of our grandstand. Marco Bezzecchi won the main race on Sunday. And in Moto2, Diogo Moreira secured the world title and celebrated with a spontaneous game of soccer. The victory went to Izan Guevara. Colin Veijer also took a strong fourth place in Moto2 after a strong build-up to the front in the second half of the race. And Moto3 was, as usual, a massive battle, with Adrian Fernandez taking his first-ever victory.
